Supporting Communities

We believe that strong, connected communities are key to tackling disadvantage and building a more inclusive society.

Our Community Development work focuses on empowering local groups, supporting active citizenship, and fostering collaboration to address local needs. We provide training and support to community groups and volunteers, help sustain vital local facilities, and work with a range of networks and partnerships to drive positive change. Our work also includes raising awareness of climate action and providing work placement opportunities, helping both individuals and community services to grow and thrive.

Through this collaborative, grassroots approach, we help communities gain the skills, confidence and resources they need to influence decision-making, deliver local solutions, and build a stronger, more resilient future. Please explore our programmes and initiatives below.

Disability Network

BNWAP's Disability Network offers a space for local disability groups to connect, share concerns, and take collective action to promote equal participation and address service gaps in the community.

CARA - Care And Repair Action

CARA carries out small jobs for older and vulnerable people living in the Bray and North Wicklow areas. This supports them to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible.

Combating Food Poverty

This project, born from local research into food insecurity in County Wicklow, brings together local partners to address food poverty by strengthening access to nutritious food and coordinated community supports.

Tackling homelessness

The Bray Homeless Forum, a collaborative network of statutory, voluntary and community organisations works together to reduce and prevent homelessness in the local area.

Climate Action

Recognising that while climate change is a global challenge, local action plays a vital role in creating a more sustainable future for everyone, we support the development of a range of local climate initiatives.

Community Groups Training

We support Local Community Groups to strengthen their capacity in addressing social inclusion issues, via workshops and training for groups engaged with SICAP target communities.

New Communities

Supporting refugees and International Protection Applicants (IPAs) to settle, connect and thrive remains a key priority in the Bray and North Wicklow area.

The Ukrainian Community

A coordinated community response to welcome Ukrainian people as friends and neighbours, supporting them to settle, connect, and build new lives in Bray and North Wicklow since 2022.

BIA Food Initiative

Our BIA Food Initiative supports local families experiencing food poverty by providing food aid to individuals and families in need within the community.
