We believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and that parents should be supported in helping them achieve it
Our SPECS (Supporting Parents & Early Childhood Services) initiative takes a prevention and early intervention approach to working with caregivers in order to improve outcomes for children. Working in the Bray and North Wicklow areas, we deliver evidence-based programmes to children and parents/guardians free of charge that have been proven to help families thrive.
To learn more about our Child & Family programmes, please explore the various sections below, or visit specsbray.com. SPECS Family Centre is located at 6 Prince of Wales Terrace, Quinnsborough Road, Bray. Call (01) 211 6481 or email specs@bnwap.ie
Pregnancy & new parents
Supports for new parents including a home visiting programme for expectant parents, a parent and baby group and a baby massage course to enhance the early bonding relationship between parents and their babies
Parenting Programmes
Evidence-based parenting programmes that provide practical tools for managing challenges, navigating separation, and better understanding your child’s emotions and development, all in a respectful, non-judgemental environment.
Early Years and Schools
Tailored transition supports to help children move smoothly into preschool and primary school. We work alongside parents, early years practitioners and teachers to share learning, provide resources, and meet individual needs.
Language Development
Good speech and language skills help children thrive socially and at school. Through the Chatterboxes project, SPECS and the HSE Speech & Language Dept bring therapy services into the community, working with early years carers to support children’s development.
Family Support
This service focuses on working with parents of children aged 7-12, supporting them to build the skills necessary in their role as primary carers and educators. Supports are offered in both group and 1:1 settings.
Child Poverty Project
The Local Area Child Poverty Action Plan (LACPAP) is a pioneering initiative to develop and test a place-based, systems-level response to child poverty.
