The Ukrainian Community
This programme is resourced through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) which is co-funded by the Irish Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development & the Gaeltacht, and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus under the Employment, Inclusion, Skills and Training (EIST) Programme 2021 -2027 www.eufunds.ie.
A coordinated community response to welcome Ukrainian people as friends and neighbours, supporting them to settle, connect, and build new lives in Bray and North Wicklow since 2022.
With the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, the community of Bray mobilised to welcome Ukrainian refugees as friends and neighbours needing immediate and ongoing support. Led by the Partnership, a coalition of the willing was formed including volunteers, community organisations and statutory services, to support Ukrainian people to settle and integrate into the community.
This collaborative approach enabled a range of initiatives such as conversational English language classes for Ukrainian people in venues convenient for them. We also worked closely with local education providers to find school places for children and young people.
Ukrainian Community Centre
A dedicated Ukrainian Community Centre was established, located in the parish hall of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Eglinton Road in Bray, providing a welcoming space for Ukrainian people to connect, socialise, get information and advice, and take part in a wide range of activities. The centre is supported by BNWAP staff resourced by our SICAP programme and Tús participants, and is open Monday-Friday.
The Ukrainian Community Centre provides:
- Information and advice
- Conversational English classes
- Training to help people upskill to get work
- Workshops and courses in art, dance, physical fitness, wellbeing and healthy eating
- Family sessions such as parent and toddler groups and play and arts activities for children
- Social events such as cooking and eating together

- Допомагаємо з усним перекладом
- Організовуємо програми та події для українців від о до 99
…і головне – створюємо місце зустрічі для тих, хто просто хоче побути в колі своїх та поспілкуватися рідною
